Privacy notice
This notice explains how PJNET handles personal data in connection with its directory, website and enquiries. For privacy questions, requests or complaints, contact hi@pjnet.com.my. Our Terms of Use separately explain listings, third-party content and liability. Listing accuracy, independent verification and limitations of liability are addressed in those terms. This privacy notice explains data handling and does not create a separate promise of compensation; it does not restrict rights or remedies available under applicable data-protection law.
1. Information and sources
We receive information you provide through contact and business-enquiry forms or by email: your name, email address, telephone number where requested, business name, website, location and message. We may receive supporting information when you request a correction or removal. Public listings may also contain business contact details obtained from business websites, public sources or authorised submissions; an individual business contact’s details can be personal data.
The website and its hosting or security systems may process technical records such as an IP address, requested URL, time, browser information and error records. The enquiry form uses a temporary keyed hash derived from an IP address to limit repeated submissions. Website redirect and 404 logs are configured for seven-day retention with IP logging disabled in the redirect plugin; separate server or provider logs may have different retention periods.
2. Purposes and required fields
We use relevant information to answer requests, communicate with you, assess business submissions, maintain and correct listings, verify removal or rights complaints, prevent abuse, maintain website security and performance, and meet applicable legal obligations or handle disputes. Enquiries are stored as private records accessible to authorised website administrators and are not automatically published.
Fields marked with an asterisk are required to submit the relevant form. Without those details, we may be unable to process it or respond effectively. Other fields are optional. The form asks for permission to store your enquiry and contact details for a response; this is not permission for unrelated marketing. Do not send passwords, payment information, identity documents or sensitive personal information unless specifically necessary and requested.
3. Disclosure and public information
Information may be accessed by authorised personnel and providers supporting hosting, email, website administration, security and backups, where needed for those functions. Relevant information may be disclosed to professional advisers, authorities or other parties where lawfully necessary to investigate a complaint, comply with law or protect legal rights. Only information intended and appropriate for a public business listing should be published. We do not publish private enquiry messages automatically or sell personal enquiry data.
4. Cookies, maps and other websites
WordPress may use cookies for login and administration. Your browser can block or delete cookies, although some functions may be affected. Embedded Google Maps can connect to Google when a listing page loads and may transmit your IP address and device or browser information; Google’s own privacy practices and cookie settings apply. A map is an external service, even when displayed inside PJNET.
Following an external link takes you to a separate provider with its own privacy notice. Review that notice before submitting information. PJNET records aggregate daily views of place-detail pages and clicks on website, directions, telephone and correction links. The analytics records contain only the date, listing identifier, event type and count. This tracker does not use tracking cookies or visitor identifiers and does not store IP addresses or raw user-agent information. Counts are activity totals, not unique visitors; a telephone click does not confirm that a call was completed. Daily totals are retained for up to 13 months, with deletion handled by scheduled website maintenance. Requests still pass through the hosting server, whose technical logs are described above. PJNET does not currently configure advertising trackers. If additional tracking tools are introduced, this notice and any required consent controls will be updated before use.
5. Storage, security and overseas processing
Enquiries and website records are stored in the website’s database and may be included in backups. We use administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information and review access and retention; no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, legal obligations or disputes, then delete or anonymise it where appropriate. Backup copies may remain until their normal replacement cycle. Enquiry records do not currently have automatic deletion enabled.
Hosting, email, embedded services or other providers may process information outside Malaysia, depending on their infrastructure. Where PJNET transfers personal data, applicable Malaysian transfer requirements and appropriate safeguards must be met. Contact us if you need information about a particular processing arrangement.
6. Your choices, rights and complaints
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of your personal data, withdraw consent for processing based on consent, or ask us to stop direct marketing. You may also request deletion, restriction or data portability where applicable legal conditions are met. These rights are not absolute: we may need to retain information to comply with law or establish or defend legal rights. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from continuing the related service or enquiry.
Email hi@pjnet.com.my with the subject “Privacy request”, describe your request and identify any relevant page or enquiry. We may request proportionate identity or authority verification and will handle the request within applicable legal time limits. We will explain relevant limitations where appropriate. You may raise a complaint with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Commissioner if you believe your personal data has been mishandled.
7. Children and updates
Our enquiry services are intended for adults. A parent or guardian should submit an enquiry for a child and avoid including unnecessary information about them. Please contact us if a child has provided personal information that should be removed. We may update this notice when practices or legal requirements change and will provide additional notice or seek consent when required.
