Petaling Jaya SS8

Also known as Sungei Way, SS8 is an industrial centre in PJ. Landuse is primarily given over to factories and there is a large PKNS flats development in the northeast section. The major landmarks are the large Matsushita and Motorola factories which front the Federal Highway. SS8 is also known for Seaport Free trade Zone, which is located next to the Motorola factory. Manufacturing within SS8 focuses on semi-conductors and computer parts. Other important businesses here are Western Digital and Omron.

There are two hawker stall areas to cater for workers and residents of the PKNS flats. SS8 borders SS7 to the west and the recreational facilities at Kelana Jaya. These include tennis courts, a swimming pool, Kelana Jaya Recreational park, FAS football field, where the Selangor state footballers train, Kelana Medical Centre and Kelana Seafood Restaurant. Adjacent to these areas there is a small business area including the MAS Training Centre. Other surrounding areas include SS3, SS1, SS9 and SS9A. These are residential suburban areas with supporting commercial facilities. SS9A has a wet market, cinema, Balairaya and police station and SS3 has a well known hawker stall area located close to SS8. There are schools in SS1, SS3, SS5, SS9 and SS9A. There is a Chinese temple in SS9A and mosque in SS1 and a surau in SS3. SS8 is adjacent to the Federal Highway and the LDP cuts through the area ensuring quick access to all parts of PJ, KL and beyond.
