Petaling Jaya Section 5

The major landmark in Section 5 is Bukit Gasing, the only remaining secondary forest in PJ, which runs in a 2km long strip and covers approximately 100 acres. Within Bukit Gasing there are rare fauna and flora, trails, viewing tower, hanging bridge and resting area in the jungle. From the top of Bukit Gasing there are excellent views of PJ and KL and over 100 species of birds are to be found in the forest. While approaching from Kuala Lumpur via Federal Highway, the marble Kota Darul Ehsan arch signals the starting point of Section 5.

Section 5 is a residential area with supporting commercial outlets. Housing types comprise 668 bungalow, 227 semi-detached, and 1024 link houses. Bukit Gasing is one of the most sought after addresses in the Klang Valley and many large well-set bungalows are located here. Section 5 is also known by most workers in Malaysia as the headquarters of the E.P.F. This statutory agency is responsible for managing all monies collected from the mandatory contributions by employees. For bird lovers, the open space adjacent to the Jalan Templer roundabout offers a wonderful place for competition on Sundays. Try to come and see for yourself. Adjoining Section 5 are Sections 1, 3, 6, 9 and 10. These are all residential areas and contain amenities such as schools, mosques, temples and churches. Section 3 also has a bus terminal and Section 10 contains Taman Aman, a landscaped park. Opposite Taman Aman Park is Taman Jaya LRT station. Section 5 is directly linked to the Federal Highway and major thoroughfares provide speedy links with all parts of PJ. Close to the southern end lies Jalan Templer KTM station beyond which is Jalan Klang Lama which provides a good connect between Kuala Lumpur, Subang and Klang.
