Petaling Jaya Section 17A

Designated as a 'New Village', Section 17A forms part of the northern boundary of PJ. It is easily the smallest Section/SS in PJ. It is also known as Kg. Baru Damansara or simply Damansara New Village and is accessed via Section 17 and the Damansara Highway. The area was a planned settlement to relocate the people who stayed at the fringe of forest or marginal area during 1940s in order to cut off the support and sympathy towards the communist guerillas. Housing consists of terraced housing and a school and police flats are located in this area. Surrounding areas are residential and facilities include schools in Section 17 and Section 19 and a temple, a wet market and pocket parks in Section 17. Section 13, the preeminent business address in PJ and the business district of Section 19 are close by as is Universiti Malaya, which begins in Section 16. Section 17A is adjacent to the LDP ensuring good road links to Damansara, Bangsar, Bandar Utama, Kuala Lumpur, the Federal Highway and 1-Utama. Section 16 is well connected to all parts of PJ.
