i'm not so familiar with AMD.. .but for the perfomance... intel always more better for multimedia...and some more u more safe money on the graphic card... cause normally intel mother board will come with build in graphic card...

AMD is more better for gamer.. of cause if u using AMD ... i prefer u dont get the mother board with build in graphic card ... is wasted. no say that will cause anything but wasted the perfomance for AMD ... AMD should more powerful on graphic and sound perfomance ..... so... better get r non build in graphic card mother board lo...

this is wat i know... maybe just r little bit small knowlegde or totally use less... but i try my best to post it and earn 1 more point nia ...
hehe

One of the other thing to consider is for gaming is to have a separate graphic card rather than onboard. This usually sucks up too much of the main memory.

Get something that runs independently with say 256MB graphic cards, like an ATi Radeon 9600XT

But to your question of AMD or Intel Core 2 Duo would be better, I suggest you do some review search on the net for it. There would be plenty of it. There you will find more technical report on benchmarks test made.

I am still using my AMD Athlon XP processor on my desktop, serves me well
