What a beautiful song and simple but superb arrangement! A simple but effective guitar intro starts off the song which leads later on into some lush strings. The male starts singing and the song immediately modulates when the female starts to sing. Beautiful 2 part harmony and I loved the modulations* throughout the song. Any of you ladies (or guys) here have seen this movie? Those who have may share their opinions with us here.

Girls, what do you think, Irwansyah is pretty hot looking right? How many of you here would like to 'take him home'? Laughing

Those who want to d/l the video can try here:

wOw! just found out that the soundtrack album features the China Philharmonic Orchestra and was recorded at Oasis Studio in Beijing. No wonder those strings sounded so LUSH! Just fantastic and beautiful music.

SYNOPSIS

RACHEL (Nirina Zubir) is a young energetic tomboy, looking unconcerned but smart and full of initiative - while FAREL (Irwansyah) is a handsome, creative, full of suprises young man. They grew up together and have been friends since childhood. They filled each other's life so much that there'd be no Rachel without Farel around. Their togetherness was so full of joy, laughter and happiness until they grew up.

One day at the bookshop Farel meets a young pretty LUNA (Acha Septriasa) , a comic writer. Her books tell a story of a dying and lonely fairy.

It was love at first sight for Farel and he confides to Rachel that he had met his dream girl. As a good friend, there was nothing Rachel could do except to give her best to support Farel and help wins Luna's heart. In her efforts suddenly Rachel feels jealous, something she had never felt before.

Being in this situation made Rachel begin to loose her identity. Slowly she tries to change her appearance to look more feminine. Subconsciously all Rachel wanted was to get Farel's attention because she was afraid of losing him.

For some reason Luna keeps rejecting Farel's love, but with Rachel's efforts in convincing Luna, she finally accepted Farel in her heart.

As Luna and Farel enjoy the time of their lives, Rachel is drowned in loneliness. To cover up her bitterness Rachel makes up a story about a boyfriend. The great love he has for her.

One day Rachel accidently sees Luna and Farel kissing passionately. Rachel's heart burned up with jealousy. She went amuck then ran away with no direction, resulting in an accident and causing her legs to be amputated.

The same time on their happiest moment, Luna had suddently become sick. Both Luna and Rachel are admitted to the same hosiptal. It was there that Rachel eventually saw how deeply Farel loved Luna and how Luna at her most critical time, desperately needed a donor for her heart from the cirrhosis she has suffered.

Will Rachel be able to accept the painful truth of losing Farel to Luna?
Can Farel accept the reality of losing Luna forever?
And what will Rachel do for her best friend's happiness who also happens to be her only love?
HEART is a story of sincerity and the meaning of friendship...

YES!

Do you still remember the 1971 movie 'Melody' also known as 'S.W.A.L.K.' which features the songs of the Bee Gees? Well in a way this is the Indo version of Melody, a love story about teenagers FOR teenagers. I am not exactly enamored with the movie 'Heart', I only loved the songs from the husband & wife team of Melly Goeslaw and Anto Hoed. Melly is quite amazing, though young she consistently dishes out all these wonderful compositions. She is now 1 of Indonesia's most sought after top composer.

A chick with a tune...deadly combo!

I like the way the song 'flows' but the lyrics sure is cheesy. The way they switch singing to a different language halfway through the song don't come off good with me. A thumbs down.

ahhh I see you are a 'lyrics person'. I love many kinds of music(not rap though nor hip-hop or punk for that matter) including folk music. Songpoets like Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Suzanne Vega, Joan Baez etc wrote beautiful lyrics that told stories with imagery, were social commentaries and/or were outpourings of bitterness and angst.

Case in point, listen to 'Diamonds and Rust' from Joan Baez and read the notes from the poster:

Man! those are some beautiful lyrics. You can almost taste the slight hint of bitterness, regret, remorse, anger etc. Aargh human emotions is such a grand and powerful thing. Which is why the Taoists/Buddhists constantly remind us to still the 'monkey mind' which is capable of causing great havoc.

Yes, lyrics can make or break a song. Consider the famous collaboration of Elton John with Bernie Taupin. Songs like 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', 'Your Song', 'Candle in the Wind', 'Daniel' etc were all monster hits. Why? Because Bernie Taupin was the lyricist. When the famous duo split up Elton had a string of insipid creations. Then when thay got back together again he got back into the hit charts.

Back to the song 'Heart'. Sure the lyrics are sugary sweet cos the target audience are teenagers who are love struck. Truth be told I wasnt paying much attention to the lyrics, I was just listening to the music. As to switching to another language I thought it should be given points for its cuteness factor and the fact that this is not such a common thing in Indon music. Its good that Melly Goeslaw does a little experimenting.
