The following poem is currently circulating on the Internet. Just sharing.

Quote:
Malaysian Mentality

You are a 3rd World Country
(A gentle reminder to all Malaysians)

Progress is not solely about prosperity
Nor buildings that look pretty
You may have the KLCC
But some places like Penang are still dirty
So you are still a 3rd world country because of your mentality

You try to beat the queue to get a taxi
And don't even bother about road courtesy
Not to mention parking indiscriminately
Without signalling you overtake randomly
And abusing lanes for emergency
Rising deaths on the roads is how u celebrate festivity

You created the MSC
To emulate Silicon Valley
You talk about high technology
To preach about the PC
But yet broadband is denied to many

You also can't supply stable electricity
Your roads have potholes and are bumpy
And tyres fall off your LRT
So this is Malaysian quality

Let's create the best schools, roads and toilets in the country
Are what Malaysia Boleh should strive to be
But instead Malaysia Boleh is so funny

You break records just to make yourself feel happy
Decades passed but this mentality I still see
Will this carry on till the next century?
Or will this change when we turn 80?

You are helpless and just let it be
Let it be
Will tomorrow be better for you and me?
15 years from now come 2020
if this goes on you will still be
just another 3rd world country because of your mentality.

Quote:

3rd World, A Reply

I know Penang is dirty
But I've been to Birmingham you see
The buildings in Bronx are full Graffiti
How bad is that compared to 3rd world country?

Have you seen the London cabbie?
Or the New york Taxi
And what about Italian drivers,
who are famous for their manoeuvres

Vision is a sign of progress to me
Ambition is a good thing you see
Perhaps fishermen rather go to sea
No matter how accessible broadband can be
Go to London if you don't mind
How many cyber cafes can you find?

How many countries have LRT?
Even Shinkansen got derailed, mind you
But this is certainly news to me
That Malaysian built LRT train too?

My goodness what a shame
When everything goes wrong, Malaysia gets the blame

There is one thing I can tell
Criticising people without fail,
How can Malaysia do well
When it's always failure that YOUR KIND dwell

Constructive criticism is the name of the game
Contribute something to Malaysia's fame
If you are too good for Malaysia my man
Get out of our country as soon as you can
Don't earn a living in our land

I'm wasting my time, there's a lot I can do
But I can't stand people like you

Fellow citizens,

The are two poem on the net,
One criticize, the Other objects,
But two poems have different views,
Both have points but not the clues.

Malaysia has room to improve,
If you can't see it, you ought to choose,
Between being patriotic and being brave,
But to 'self criticize' is not a waste.

Why should we compare ourselves,
To countries that destroy themselves?
If Birmingham has graffiti,
Are we right, to leave Penang dirty?

If Malaysian drivers are rude these days,
Did they learn it from overseas stay?

If you been to advance land,
You can find they have broadband,
They use technology that we still lag,
Why is that? You might add.

We invest (lots) money to gain new things
We have KLCC and highway links,
But when things fail, we say "we don't know",
We sets our standards far too low,

If we believe that "MALAYSIA CAN"
Let us "self criticize" and improve my man
If we sit back to wait and see,
We always be 3rd World Country.

did 'We sets our standards far too low, ?..'

not really.. but then why is this happen?

1st: corruption, government policy.
2st: weakness of the system; especially in the local
government.

i quite believe that every country has their own black sheeps, not only malaysia. and i'm glad that malaysia doesn't have any REAL serious natural disasters like hurrican, tornado, or even earth quake and so. but crimes are getting more and more serious nowadays Sad which is the part that people get really afraid of Sad

AWESOME!!!a Poetry session..i dunno u guys also got some sense of artistic touch..but im no poet

yeap..its what we called The Uncovinience Truth...the truth sux and reality sux..
still got a lot of things to improve..

this country is only 50 years old..still young..still got many flaws and blunders..
BUT..!!! we got so many advantages like:
1) natural resources like Oil n gas n other minerals..
2) secured from natural disaster
3) got some many intelectuals n smart people..(yeah including you..)
4)The British already prepared the facilities and system before they leave us..
SO....

why we cannot get ahead 50 years forward?with those advantages we should be a developed country rite now..so i guess the main reasons for our idling are:
1) Corruption
2)Corruption
3)Corruption..
4)........
and of course i think NEP really contribute some flaw in this..(hey,im a malay..n i totally againt NEP ok..?)

Well, back end supporter doesnt meant just a street protestor.u can be the on the adminstration site like doing the brochures, flyers n sorts like that.even having ur own support blog or website is kira dah ok.and u also can be the back-end supporter with doin some 'Guerilla Marketing' for the Opposition like spreading the 'words of mouths' (not the fitnah and slanders ok?) or even try to talk to the 'blind'..Seriosly la bro, at kelantan still got some 'blind Malays'..eventought the opposition got the state.i remember 1 time during the GE on 1999 , we went to this kampung at Pasir Mas..and this kampung pakciks n makciks said to us.." kalau takde UMNO, siapa nak bagi makan? ".. Crazy fellas!..i feel nak lempang or kickboxing n say 'WAKE UP!!!!" to them but off course cannot la becoz im a 'decent-sopan-got manner' young malay guy cannot kickboxing old aunties and uncles lor..in Kelantan most of urban n educated malays will support PAS or the oppositons.we only got problems with these rural and kg hardcore UMNO fans- sampai-mati .cannot blame them oso ,being brainwashed for almost 50 years now..Aiyoh..
Btw...talking bout Amir...U guys seen his famous film? the BIG DURIAN?..Awesome film ,pencapchew...i watched at The Actor Studio Bangsar last 2 years..in that film, u will know who actually created the racial tensions among us..who created the separations n who created the racial prejudice feeling among us..n the ironic part is, at the same time, that same guys are the one who trying to create this MUHIBBAH and 'Bangsa Malaysia' bullshit...totally nauseas and scary too..

Anwar Ibrahim, friedice??.miss that guy when he speak ..Feel so lucky that im alive to see the 'Reformasi'.got sumthing to tell my children n my grandchildren about our national history.seriosly, when he talks.,..your 'darah muda' (young blood?) will sure boiling one.i dunno..he's to priceless to be a PM..im afraid being a PM will ruin him..

" BERIKAN KU 10 ORANG ANAK MUDA DAN NESCAYA AKAN AKU GEGARKAN DUNIA.."("..Give me 10 young men and believe me, i can shake the world..")

That's one of Anwar Ibrahim's favourite quote.love when he say that.
hehehe..it's just a metaphore given by the late Sukarno before he attack Malaysia in the 60's.What he really meant was, young people are the asset of a organization, society and a nation becoz they (we..!) got so much energy ,spirited and ideas for anything to be succes.
That was he did, he took several young people to be his assistants (administration and in the army) and start the Indonesia Raya Campaign that leads to Confrontation War with Malaysia. And he did really made a tremors that time in S.E.A and even freak the hell out of USA and the Brits.
(sadly, sukarno was being used by the communist, PKI)

and talking bout how strong young people are,the ironic part was, Sukarno's regime then being detested and overthrown by a young indonesian-Chinese ,Soe Hok Gie who was then a undergraduate in Universitas Indonesia.

"...Lebih baik diasingkan daripada menyerah kepada kemunafikan."("It is better to be singled out than to surrender to hypocrisy..")
---Soe Hok Gie---
