In Malaysia you can choose to do business in two ways.
Most small businesses who just started will register their business with for about RM 150-200. (the price ranges, because you'll most probably want to hire a solicitor to sort out the business registration for you)
The other way is to establish a company straight up. That costs around RM 1000 if my memory serves me right. Having a company means you have to start filing taxes and tell the Government how much you earn. _________________ For innovative business ideas and interviews with successful Malaysian and international entrepreneurs, please visit

If you are a foreigner,
You can only register a Private Limited company (Sdn Bhd).
You need to appoint two Malaysian as your shareholder within the company.
About RM2,300.00 inclusive of company secretary cost.
Every month have to pay RM60.00 to company secretary.
Once the license is approved. You need to rent a shop
Have to get the S&P, some pictures and drawing on the details of your shop interior. And go to relevent authority (MPSJ, MPPJ, DBKL, etc) to apply for the premise license.
During the process, there will be Health Ministry and Safty Ministry officer to come and check your premise.
Once those two approved, then the (MPSJ, MPPJ,etc) will issue you the official license. (takes 6 months and above).
However, during the 6 months, you can ask for temperarily license.

Hi,
If I'm interested in opening shop or booth in a supermarket, do I need to register my business with the SSM or do I go straight to the local authorities to apply for permit? Anyone can help to clarify this? Thanks. |

what's the difference between a business and company? if i want to set up a business/company with say, 3-4 people initially with a capital of say, 25k, expected revenue of max 10k nett a month, which do i go for?
also, is the information in this site accurate enough?
still considering whether or not to start a company or not. also in need of a business advisor to help me with procedures and stuff, i did not study business in college. thanks a lot! |
