Hello I am planning to run a residential cafe business near an elite condo around mid valley area. majority tenants are expats and income RM9.5K and above. Cooking is not allowed at the place (maybe light meal) and there's a bar. Anyone can tell me how much am I expected to spend or how's the future of it? thanks
Divide to 30 days. You will have your daily expenses.
Things to consider on daily operation cost.
Rental
Electricity and water
Employee salary.
Once all 3 add up, divide by 30 days and you will know how much you need to profit to cover the operation cost.
Your product sold after minus the cost only can be consider profit.
Example:
Rental : RM5000
Electricity and Water : RM3030 (electriciy Rm3000 and water RM30)
Salary : RM1000
Total monthly is RM9030
Daily operation cost is RM9030/30=RM303
You will have to sell your product or services which generate Gross profit of more than RM303 to cover it.
You need to generate more than RM303 also to get back your investment.
If you cannot cover RM303, then don't do the business. Look for other biz or other places that can generate more than the daily operatin cost.
If your daily Gross profit is RM500,
RM500 x30 days =RM15,000
Monthly operation about RM10,000 (Rm9030+misc)
so your net profit is RM5,000.00
If you spend RM50,000 on rental and deposit, infrastructure and renovations, then it will take more than 10 months to generate ROI.

the first 6 months is rent free......i only need to pay for the electricity and water bills. then after 6 motnhs, if i am satisfied, i start paying rent. really appreciate you help. how much will i be expecting (once the business is on steady flow) to earn per month? i understand it'll be hard for the 1st few months. never do business before. btw, everything yet to be decided once i go and see the place on saturday. from what i know, thr's a bar and freezer thr. and that most tenants are expats. no cooking allowed.
Before you go to rent the place, go to the Majils Perbandaran or DBKL office for that area. Go to the license depertment and enquire what license do you need to apply and how much for the license. buy the form mon the spot also and you should see all the requirement to setup the business.
I have done my first round of talk and all my future business partners given me go ahead on my next company. I am now on 2nd phase already, meaning on paperwork. Many things to discuss and detailing before going to 3rd phase.
I won't reveal the nature of business. Everything must be finalise first. All this will cost nothing to me to start my next company.

not yet started. not yet see the place. supposedly see the place last week but my friend was out of town till tmr. maybe will see the place tomorrow night. an open cafe but I have no prior experience in running a business before. don't know what to expect also. don't know how much i need to start the business. fan ah~~
have you check on the license? That is the most important. If you cannot get a license or difficulty getting a license, then how good the place is also a vain....

Hi Cook_kk213,
Are you interested to be in the cybercafe opening in your target location?
If can, we can start up with 20PC.
However, after the free rental period, what is the rental be charged?
I can pull a friend that put in some money.
Basically it is a 3 person partners. You, me and a friend. we all just need to come out with partial money.
Both of us has the experience to run cybercafe business. My friend works in Cybercafe fulltime and he himself selling game cards over there. He can be fulltime staff to manage also.
I can be the technical to setup the whole thing and come up with a business model that will make money. (more like copycat from other people that success in the biz on small scale).
Expected daily income of RM300 to RM500 is possible base on other people's model.
If the location is in MPPJ area, then it would be beneficial. However, I need to check on the location for cybercafe license. Now I know it is not issue in MPSJ, DBKL, and many otherstates. Earlier this year I know MPPJ still renew license and issue license.. but not sure now still issue.
But if you are interested, then we can talk.
