:(

What should i do when money is being wasted due to false hope given and poor customer service? Fitness First was the centre i choose among others providers like celebrity and true fitness and others. I choose among all the membership fees, Fitness First is the most expensive charging RM185 a month for the member without tower provided. I still choose because the Sales person promised me that Fitness First provides the best services, telling me that they encourage the member to go to the club often and for the first month, after attending 8 times, and complete the 3personal sessions, they will refund back the RM149 to the members as a token to encourage them to do fitness. Yes i was excited and making sure to complete the session as was told. I signed up my membership at Uptown and then do mostly of my fitness at Menara Axis. So i was told by the Sales person from Uptown, i can get the RM149 refund at any club once completed the session. So for convenience sake, i approached the counter at Menara Axis to fill up the refund form. And they accepted the form and told me that they will process. But after one month, they called me and told me that i can only filled up the form and get the refund from Uptown Club where i first signed my contract. Yes, i did not do any complaint then so I purposely make the effort to drop by the Uptown Club to fill up the Second Form. Then i waited for 2 weeks, then follow up with a call, and surprised to hear that nothing is being processed. So i have to walk in to re-fill up the form for the third time. The third time filling up but they told me that the refund can only be made within 3 months. So i explained that it was not my fault the first place to have late submitted the form. Until today, the refund is still pending for approval. I am wondering because, if your club really want to encourage people to exercise by refunding them the RM149, why making all the hassle for people to refund the money. Might as well, just don’t say any promises.
Secondly, i had walked in on 26 November 2009 for a note to cancel my membership because i had to attend a training that required my full time to be in campus. I had really no time to go fitness. And they accepted my cancellation by telling me that i need to pay RM299. I walked in purposely during working hour to settle this issue. To cancel my membership by filling up the form. And on the spot, i asked do i need to do anything else to ensure smooth cancellation? Well, nothing was told that i have to pay the RM299 as penalty on the spot to cancel, so i assumed that they will auto credit from my credit card, for notice one month RM185 plus Rm299 penalty fees. But when i checked my January 2010 statement, they still deduct my RM185. So i was curious and give a call to the manager, Sharon Khoo. She says i have to walk in to cancel my membership by paying the RM299. I asked her on the phone can i come after working hours? She says yes, i can walked in and make the cancellation after working hour until 11pm. So i make my effort to walk in to the Uptown to settle hope i can solved everything and get rid of the trouble. When i was there, i asked is your manager Sharon around. Yes, she was around doing her training session. Then her staff told me that i have to pay the money RM299 and they will refund back to me RM185 next month. I asked them to ensure me that the money RM185 will be refund to me next month, else i have to walk in again and wasting my time to get my money refund. They say no choices and went inside to talk to the manager, Sharon. So i asked can Sharon spend me 5minutes to help me settle this on spot so that i don’t have to come again. They told me to wait for 15 minutes. So i waited at the counter for 15minutes and then i saw her walking out. But disappointedly when she walked out, she wasn’t looking at me but instead she looked at her staffs, and told them to tell me that “tell her that my office hour off at 5pm. Now is my personal time. Ask her to come on Thursday morning to make appointment with me.” I got so mad why she cannot just talked to me directly face to face instead of in front of me asking her staff to talk to me, as if she is some very big people. So i wanted to solve my problem, so i approached her and ask her to help me to solve my problem because I had no time to settle this coming in and out again without getting any results. So she says sorry, you have to make appointment with me on Thursday. So I say, that means you are not even sure also what you have promised me on the phone asking me to come after working hours to settle the problem. Why not on the phone you tell me to come during working hours. I got so disappointed by the service provided. Never mind, then i asked her what about my RM149 money guaranteed back refund as she had promised me to settle it for me a few months ago and until now still haven settle. She was acting so bossy asking her staff to check my record without even properly responding to me. I was so fed-up with these kind attitudes. What can I do? I told her that i will bring this up to your next level. She don’t even border to respond to me and give me no answer or hope and just walked away. And guess what January month already over deduct, after complaint and paid cancellation RM299, Febraury they still deduct. Hhuh...

I have decided to pay extra higher RM185 from the Fitness First compare to celebrity giving me 1onth free trial and RM146 a month because i actually thought i could get better service from Fitness First. But at the end, what i have is empty promises, false hope and poor management. I have no choice but to express here and hope someone else won’t step into the wrong decision as what i have done. Choose others provider that is cheaper and better services.
Thank you.

Complaints - True Fitness
source

About 2 years and 3 months ago, i sign up a 24 months contact with true fitness. According to the contract, true fitness will charge me a monthly fees of Rm167 to my credit card.

Before i sign up, i ask about the termination of the contract and was informed that this contract is only last for 24 months and true fitness will call me and discuss about it before my contract expire and i was not allow to go for early termination. But instead of calling me and talk about extention of my contract, true fitness continue to charge my credit card after 24 months.

This happen even though they know that i wish not to continue being a member with them. Reason given was i did not went to meet their branch manager and sign a termination form. They even charge me for late payment and now they threaten me with a lawsuit.

2 months before my contract end till now i did not went to true fitness at all. So may i know, am i force to pay them even though i did not enjoy any of the services they provide?

while complaining , maybe you can try some outdoor activity first before you sign up for other fitness club. Jogging and running is an exercise which can put you into more body shape. Sprinting is one of my favorite.. I saw this from this website http://link.removed.com. I also saw similar article in menhealth's megazine. can have a try. In addition, it is FOC. Hope can help you with my little opinion. Sorry if any wrong words.

I saw quite a number of complaints about fitness centers. Hope the gov will do something about it. Seems like becoming a trend. I heard some cases where True fitness gave 7 days free workout.. but from what i saw in forums.. they mentioned about those sales person kept pestering them to sign up for full membership.. kinda disappointed with the way they are handling customers..

These fitness centers are all out to make money.... from you. A high churn rate means more profits for them. If everyone who signs up for membership gets good service the fitness center will soon reach saturation point and they cannot sign up more members. People who become disgusted with their poor service will leave so they have made their money from them already and now they can go sign on another new member. This concept works something like planned obsolescence. If a manufacturer makes a TV that can last 20 years how is he going improve his sales & profits?!! Better make a TV that can only last about 2-3 years!

The free trials are to lure you in.

Bro,

Seriously, their sales only did a sweet talk to you at the beginning (you haven't signed up and given your money/credit card). The hell of trouble is they didn't even bother of your complaints or problems later. For me, I only use their equipments and facilities, don't even expect much on their good service. So you should go to most convenient and affordable gym for you.

So far, I had no problem with staffs as I tried to make a good communication personally.. it makes me easier to settle anything at this point of time, he..he..

Exercise is good for your body and mind, so don't let these people's bad , ignorant attitude and low level of EQ/IQ ruin out your spirit Wink

Cool
