Hello People
Make sure that you got all your bookings before you fly . . the most important one is actually the short stay at the halfway house. You needed as much rest as possible for the ascent which you will wake up to at around 2:30am (depending on time of sunrise).
Know that food there is relatively expensive too, and bring along a few chocolate bars to give you extra energy and warmth.
If you managed to get to the top, it will naturally be an occasion to celebrate but rest reasonably well before you descend MOST ACCIDENTS OCCUR WHEN DESCENDING and not ascending, so please watch your steps coming down. When you find your knees weakening, stop and rest.
Enjoy your climb, take plenty of pictures. Its an experience of a lifetime, CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY CLIMBLING.
Aiks, long time didn't log into pjnet, looks like alot new faces here.
Btw, I've climbed mount kinabalu 2 years back, was a good experience despite i cursed and cursed the trees, stones, mountain and weather (It rained and rained). The more I ascend, I can only see rocks and more rocks... damn demotivating... didn't help much when I was up there, took a few pictures then descend. BUT once I reached home, I downloaded the pictures and seriously man.. it looks soooooooooooo beautiful up there!!! Crap, didn't really enjoy the first time I was up there, maybe cause wasnt prepared for it. But surely want a second chance. Let me know if you guys are organising, and pls pls put Pulau Manukan in the itinerary. I miss that island!! _________________ Renovation? Wiring? Lightings? Contact ME(ES INTERIOR)

Dear Chessgal
I believed you were in a hurry to just climb up the Mount to add another notch in your achievements, which you did and I congratulate you on that cos only about 3% of the people will ever attempt it. You will really enjoy the climb if you have taken a little bit of your time to savour the scenery - rocks, mountains etc - but unfortunately as you said, it rained, so that really is a sad thing. Did you see the sunrise when you reached the top ? If you did not, maybe, you should have another go at it.
Dear Humanfly
This is a good gesture. The price is definately reasonable and yes, if you do organise another one, I would like to seek my 3rd ascent in 2009.
Hey people out there ! There is quite an amount of logistics work involved and doing it for RM900 is reasonable. Let us go in a group and we will definately all enjoy such a trip.
Many companies use the Mt KK ascent as a team building event, and once you have ascended such a mountain with other friends, your bondage with these friends will be very strong.

Yup, Was at the peak when the sun rises, it was freezing cold! Like I’ve said, I didn’t enjoy even a bit at the peak, cause my legs were aching and tired! Slipped a few times, and man, there is one corner when you have to use a rope to ascend, that was damn fun! And it was so pit-black okay! Lost my torch light on the way up (it was 2.30am Gosh!!).
Dead tired when I came back! _________________ Renovation? Wiring? Lightings? Contact ME(ES INTERIOR)

I am from PJ. I was born and grow u in KL. But I have declare KK my home town since I went there for the first time in 2002 with Raleigh expedition group. I am going for KK for 3rd time this year, and is keen to do Mt K again in Sep. In fact I have booked my accommodation up in Laban Rata.
I would like to know the cheapest way to go Kinabalu Park from KK on the same morning of the climb? It is so expensive to stay in KP.
If anyone reading this forum is keen to join, the date will be 25-26 sep. Or if anyone is going there the same date as i do, may be we can hire a taxi together? 2 of us in the trip.
