If u looking for mobile IC,
pls go for celcom, maxis, u mobile or Izzi

wireless or not, dont take streamyx la...

take izzi or look for a company offering wimax.

why not streamyx?
1. technician so lazy. my friend's house in cyber only 200m from TM service centre. she waited for 3 weeks.
2. bluffing ads.
3. unlimited? then why can only DL 5 GB per month?
4. speed capped bcos a lot of P2P downloaders.

anyone care to add?

"1. technician so lazy. my friend's house in cyber only 200m from TM service centre. she waited for 3 weeks."
- I have filed numerous fault reports ref streamyx. Never had to wait more then 3 days b4 technician shows up.

"2. bluffing ads."
- You will have to be more specific on this one as I am sure that TM would have faced class action suits by now if their ads have been intentionally misleading.

"3. unlimited? then why can only DL 5 GB per month?"
- This cant be right as I download more than that in a week!

"4. speed capped bcos a lot of P2P downloaders."
- Did you mean throttling? Capping is done according to the package you've subscribed for. If you take the 512kb package they will cap your d/l speed to 512kb at the port. Capping is similarly done at the port for 1024kb and 4096kb packages.

Throttling is done to reduce your download speed (or overall bandwidth) by anything from 10% - 80% of your capped speed. This is to specifically target p2p filesharers. There are of course ways and means to mitigate, negate and even bypass TMNet's throttling.

Whomsoever you decide to go for, I suggest you stay away from Maxis cos I heard from friends it sucks...... big time! One thing you must realize is that access to the Int'l Internet gateway (backbone) is still monopolised by TM. Ppl like Maxis are just renting the bandwidth for access to the Int'l backbone from TM. What does that tell you? Do you think any of these providers renting the access to TM's Int'l backbone will give better performance than TM? I dont think so.

TM is no longer controlling the backbone or mnopolised the internet access. well to b in details they nvr control everything. it is just that they were the 1st one to get permit n unlimited access gateway to gain internet. just like 3G technologies. TM was the 1st to get license 4 it b4 maxis celcom or others get.

so that's y renting thing came out. but to b honest I don't remember of hearing anything that maxis rent or pinjam from tm.

wat I noe is maxis has its own backbone internationally be it at taiwan or indonesia. even if it rented from ppl it is definitely not from TM. of course since they are numerous gateway for malaysia, some own by TM , maxis sure got pay some Money to TM for maxis user to access tru that gateway.

but backbone is backbone, gateway is gateway. just like bridge is backbone and tol is gateway. something like that.

u shud google to be in exact of the info. mine one is just a general view.

bside TM gateway chrges is the cheapest compare to other competitor. maxis has their own gateway recently if I'm not mistaken but ofcourse I heard not enuff and it is expensive to open new gateway. mayb that's y they are still directing some of their rouTe via TM gateway.

lastly, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't celcom owned by TM? celcom is TM rite?

izzi belongs to izzinet sdn bhd. there's no indication that izzinet is owned by tm or celcom. Cool
