The word lunatic(mad person) is derived from the word luna which means moon. Empirical evidence through the ages have shown that more people become mad during the time of the full moon. During the full moon the tides are higher. Speculation is that the moon exerts a very strong gravitational pull on water. As the brain is also comprised of a high percentage of fluids eg. blood etc the reasoning is that the full moon thereby causes this state of madness or lunacy. Dont be surprised if places are fully booked at Tg. Rambutan during the full moon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
lunatic (adj.)
c.1290, "affected with periodic insanity, dependent on the changes of the moon," from O.Fr. lunatique "insane," from L. lunaticus "moon-struck," from luna "moon." Cf. O.E. monseoc "lunatic," lit. "moon-sick;" M.H.G. lune "humor, temper, mood, whim, fancy" (Ger. Laune), from L. luna. Cf. also N.T. Gk. seleniazomai "be epileptic," from selene "moon." The noun meaning "lunatic person" is first recorded 1377. Lunatic fringe (1913) was apparently coined by U.S. politician Theodore Roosevelt. Lunatic soup (1933) was Australian slang for "alcoholic drink."

ice goreng...you are out-dated, it's called Hospital Bahagia now, Tanjung Rambutan was the name long ago. _________________ ~ it's not how much you earn, it's how much you can save. ~ |
