why not just get a Radio Taxi, you only pay RM$1 extra. Isnt the extra RM$1 worth the peace of mind?
Useless... last year I left my phone in the taxi and less than 5 min i call the cab company. they can't get to the driver!!!
I have been calling for 1 hour and they keep telling cannot get through the driver.
yipck2003, your case is classified under 'finders keepers'. right now we are talking about safety issues for the females taking a cab. If you leave your wallet with a few grand in it behind in a taxi I think its quite pointless trying to contact the cab driver through the call station.....cos he is already at the airport catching a flight to Bangkok for a short holiday!
in your case I think some son or daughter of a cab driver just got to try out a new 3g phone!

On Wednesday night 23 May'07 around 11:30pm my wife (driver) together with one of her colleague almost become a victim of hit and robbed gang. Fortunately by the grace of God they were spared. That night Jalan Klang Lama was rather quiet perhaps most of the motorists were either Liverpool or AC Milan fans trying to sleep early then wake up later to catch the Champions League Final on ESPN. Well infact most roads are rather quiet around this hour.
Lets read the real story.
Driving home from city and while along Jalan Klang Lama (near the market) heading towards PJ, they notice a car with 4 guys in it zigzag around them and they continue with their normal conversation and drive normally. When they approach Pearl Point Hotel junction waiting for the light to turn green and being 2nd car on the 1st lane from the left (4 lanes road) waiting to turn left into Jalan Sepadu (United Garden) to drop off her colleague at Happy Garden.
They kept looking back the rear mirror and side mirror for the zigzag car and no sign of it or any car behind them. Then suddenly a car with very bright light just rammed onto the back and no one came down from the car and they too were stunned of the impact.
After hearing from her sister how her friend got hit & abducted and dumped out of the car a week earlier put my wife on high alert and they too become very careful of the situation. They were contemplating whether to get down to assess the damage or just wait and see. All they could see was a very new Proton Waja with bright headlight and very well tinted. When the light turn green the car in front didn't move an inch and this made them worried and all sorts of thing came into their mind. My wife were relief that her leg was on the brake paddle during the impact and the car didn't move forward to knock the front car.
Imagine if your car knock the front car then you have no choice but to come down. She hooted and flashed the headlight for the front car to move so they could get the registration no of the car that rammed into them but that car in front still didn't move. Then a lorry on the 2nd lane next to their car wound down the window to look around.
A moment later the front car just moved off and this gave them room to move forward but her colleague couldn't see anything as the back car had such a bright headlight just blinded her. When they turned left into Jalan Sepadu the car didn't follow them but just sped off so was the 1st car.
This made the 2 ladies to conclude that the 2 cars or 3 (the zigzag car) could be working together base on these, the zigzag scouting for potential victim, if you are on the lane that suppose to turn left why when the light turns green you don't turn but continue to go straight. And why when you are the first car in a junction when the light turns green you don't move but just stay put and how many of us when met an accident especially when you knocked another car you don't step out unless you have the intention to run away from an accident or up to something.
No formal police report were made as no registration number were noted and you know how our police force will respond to this kind of report. So ladies be very careful and men too.
Here are a few of my suggestion to you if you are in such a situation. Never step down from you car even if it is a genuine accident (of course all accidents are genuine I'm sure you know what I mean) especially if it is a brightly lit & well tinted car.
Just wind down a little of the window and exchange tel no, registration no etc through the little gap of the window or suggest to other drivers to drive to the nearest police station.
All drivers out there are already aware of how delicate such a situation is in Malaysia now and no one will be mad with you for being careful. And if you have been sandwiched between two cars and your live is at stake don't worry just bang the front and back car and keep your hand on the horn to escape.
Remember you are driving a lethal weapon why not make use of it when you can. Potential robbers are humans they are not super humans. Is better to be safe than sorry.
Forward this and warn our love ones. Together we make Malaysia a better/safer place.

BEWARE OF PAPER AT THE BACK GLASS OF YOUR VEHICLE
NEW WAY TO DO CAR JACKING (NOT A JOKE!!!)
Heads up everyone. Please, keep this circulating...
You walk! across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside.
You start the engine and shift into Reverse. When you look into the
rearview
mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper
stuck
to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your
doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it
is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the (car hacker's)
appear
out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and
your keys. Your home and your whole identity is now compromised!
BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away.
Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail.
I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women.
A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification
documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong
hands.
My friend's bf car last year was stop by 4 uniformed police. The first thing we do is wind down our windows. WRONG!!! DEAD WRONG!!!! The fake police instantly take the car key out. force the guy to come out of his car and hijack the car. Luckily the car got GPS security where it locks down the car after police report. However, all his documents, laptop, cash in the car gone missing.
DOn't wind down your window too much!! only enough to speak to other ppl.

Subject: IMPORTANT Credit Card Fraud
Good to take note of...
One more thing to look out for!!! Be sure to read 'Scene 3'
SCENE 1.
This is a new one. People sure stay busy trying to cheat us, don't they??
A friend went to the local gym and placed his belongings in the locker. After the workout and a shower, he came out, saw the locker open, and thought to himself, "Funny, I thought I locked the locker. Hmmmmm." He dressed and just flipped the wallet to make
sure all was in order. Everything looked okay - all cards were in place.
A few weeks later his credit card bill came - a whooping bill of $14,000! He called the credit card company and started yelling at them, saying that he did not make the transactions. Customer care personnel verified that there was no mistake in the system and asked if his card had been stolen. "No," he said, but then took out his wallet, pulled out the credit card, and yep - you guessed it - a switch had been made. An expired similar credit card from the same bank was in the wallet. The thief broke into his locker at the gym and switched cards.
Verdict: The credit card issuer said since he did not report the card missing earlier, he would have to pay the amount owed to them. How much did he have to pay for items he did not buy? $9,000!
Why were there no calls made to verify the amount swiped? Small amounts rarely trigger a "warning bell" with some credit card companies. It just so happens that all the small amounts added up to big one!
SCENE 2.
A man at a local restaurant paid for his meal with his credit card. The bill for the meal came, he signed it, and the waitress folded the receipt and passed the credit card along.
Usually, he would just take it and place it in his wallet or pocket. Funny enough, though, he actually took a look at the card and, lo and behold, it was the expired card of another
person. He called the waitress and she looked perplexed. She took it back, apologized, and hurried back to the counter under the watchful eye of the man.
All the waitress did while walking to the counter was wave the wrong expired card to the counter cashier, and the counter cashier immediately looked down and took out the real card. No exchange of words --- nothing! She took it and came back to the man with an apology.
Verdict: Make sure the credit cards in your wallet at yours. Check the name on the card every time you sign for something and/or the card is taken away for even a short period of time. Many people just take back the credit card without even looking at it, "assuming" that it has to be theirs.
FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DEVELOP THE HABIT OF CHECKING YOUR CREDIT CARD EACH TIME IT IS RETURNED TO YOU AFTER A TRANSACTION!
SCENE 3:
Yesterday I went into a pizza restaurant to pick up an order that I had called in. I paid by using my Visa Check Card, which, of course, is linked directly to my checking account.
The young man behind the counter took my card, swiped it, then laid it on the counter as he waited for the approval, which is pretty standard procedure. While he waited, he picked up his cell phone and started dialing.
I noticed the phone because it is the same model I have, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then I heard a click that sounded like my phone sounds when I take a picture. He then gave me back my card but kept the phone in his hand as if he was still pressing
buttons. Meanwhile, I'm thinking: I wonder what he is taking a picture of, oblivious to what was really going on.
It then dawned on me: the only thing there was my credit card, so now I'm paying close attention to what he is doing. He set his phone on the counter, leaving it open. About 5 seconds later, I heard the chime that tells you that the picture has been saved.
Now I'm standing there struggling with the fact that this boy just took a picture of my credit card. Yes, he played it off well, because had we not had the same kind of phone, I
probably would never have known what happened. Needless to say, I immediately canceled that card as I was walking out of the pizza parlor.
All I am saying is, be aware of your surroundings at all times. Whenever you are using your credit cards, take caution and don't be careless. Notice who is standing near you and what they are doing when you use your card. Be aware of phones because many have a camera phone these days.
When you are in a restaurant and the waiter/waitress brings your card and receipt for you to sign, make sure you scratch the number off. Some restaurants are using only the last four digits, but a lot of them are still putting the whole thing on there. I have already been a victim of credit card fraud and, believe me, it is not fun. The truth is that they can get you even when you are careful, but don't make it easy for them.
FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN THINK OF. LET'S GET THE WORD OUT! JUST BE AWARE _________________
