Woman robbed of RM50,000, wages for restaurant workers
By KULDEEP S. JESSY
KUALA LUMPUR: A 29-year-old clerk was robbed of RM50,000 by four men, one armed with a parang, in front of a restaurant in Bandar Manjalara, Kepong, after she withdrew the cash from a bank.
It is believed that the four robbers who were wearing sweaters and baseball caps, had tailed her from the bank in Damansara to the restaurant, where she worked.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm K. Kumaran said the 1.30pm incident occurred Wednesday, after the four men in a Toyota Vios stopped near the woman's car while she was still seated in her vehicle.
"Three of the robbers, one armed with a parang ran towards her car.
"The armed robber smashed her window while the other two rushed to the front passenger side and grabbed her handbag containing the money, before fleeing the scene,'' he said.
It is learnt that the RM50,000 was meant to be paid out as wages to the workers of the restaurant.
ACP Kumaran said the robbers also took the woman's cellular phone and wallet containing her own cash and personal documents which were in the handbag.
ACP Kumaran called upon those who had information on the incident to contact the nearest police station.

I guess this was shared before....
NO HANDBAG AT PASSENGER SEAT
This happen to me yesterday, in Sunway Damansara, at traffic light junction turning to palm spring condo, at 3pm afternoon.
It was red light and i was the 2nd car stopped at the traffic light..
2 Malay in motorbike stopped near my car and 1 Malay got down from the motor, smashed my passenger side window, sprayed pepper spray on my eyes and snatch the handbag away...
It just happened within a second and i horn horn horn .. no one can really help.. and i suffered pain on my eyes, face and hand.. I lost everything inclusive my handphone...
Thieves are smarter now. While you are suffered eyes’ pain, you are unable to rush to bank or police station to make report even can't see their face and number plate. They have used my credit card at petrol station near by after snatching my handbag.
Pls be alert and DO NOT put your handbag at the passenger side. Stay alert whenever u go and don't be the next victim.. Thank god, my kids were not with me when things happened... _________________

Credit Card Fraud
I just want to share the incident that happened to me yesterday. I received
a call from a woman by the name Lisa claiming she is calling on behalf of
Bank Negara. She introduced herself formally and explained to me that Bank
Negara is concerned for credit card users in Malaysiawho overspend their
limit and put themselves too deep in debt. So, Bank Negara is introducing
this new "MBF Countdown Backup" card for all owners of credit cards all
around Malaysiaand will soon be a compulsory thing. The card, according to
Lisa, will be swiped everytime a transaction is performed using your credit
card and this will enable Bank Negara to monitor our spending. And in
return, we will get discounts ranging from 5% to 40% for different
merchants.
Then, this is where my stupidity sets in. Because she spoke to me in Bahasa
Malaysiaand the background noise implicates that it is a bank working
environment, and above all this, she was able to readout to me my 16-digit
credit card numbers and particulars and even my outstanding balance with
the credit card, it convinced me that this could be a new system
implemented by Bank Negara. So, when she asked for my 3-digit approval code
written behind the credit card, I "STUPIDLY" gave it to her.
Then after all this was charade was over, Lisa informed me that a charge of
RM480 will be charged to my credit card as a starters fee to waive off the
annual fee. This woke me up!! So, I questioned Lisa on why do I need to pay
for something that Bank Negara wants to implement to help the people of
Malaysia(not a very noble cause). Then she explained to me that they are
from a company calling on behalf of Bank Negara. And she said all the banks
are well aware of this system. She then passed me over to her manager, Mr.
Zakri or Mr. Z (similar to the MIB) or something. This gentleman then tries
to assure me that this is not a fraud or scam.
Then after his long-winded speech about the benefits of their card (no
longer Bank Negara's), I told him to hold the approval of the card as I
don't need it. I told him that I will call my bank to verify this card and
get back to him. He agreed to my suggestion and even gave me 2 of his
contact numbers for me to get back to him (03-40422522 and 03-40424288).
So, when I called both my credit card banks regarding this matter both
banks told me that there was no such thing. Immediately I told that I might
have fell for a fraud telephony case and wanted to cancel and suspend all
my credit cards. The banks suspended my cards and agreed to send me a
replacement card. Then when I called back Mr. Z at the number he gave me, a
different lady attended to me and passed me on to a chinese lady who spoke
in mandarin to me in a very heavy China accent. I told them that I have
called my cc banks and cancelled my cards and specifically told her that I
do not agree to their terms and I don't want their offer. She explained to
me and assured me that they will delete my cc details and not charge me for
anything. So, all this happened yesterday.
Being paranoid, I called my banks again this morning to double check if any
transactions had gone through yesterday after I cancelled my card. And
guess what. Those m#^*!#fkers actually did try to charge me but the banks
did not let the transactions go through. I consider myself lucky coz I
acted a step ahead of them.
Lesson from all of this, never ever entertain telephony offers that involve
credit cards. 2 of my colleagues fell for these scams before and 1 of them
was lucky enough to have the bank recognise it as a fraud case while the
other 1 lost RM3000. So, SCREW ALL TELEPHONY MARKETING
STRATEGISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WARNING... New Credit Card Scam
Note: the callers do not ask for your card number; THEY already have it. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself.
What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their conversation.
My husband was called on Wednesday from "VISA", and I was called on Thursday from "MasterCard".
The scam works like this: Person calling says, "This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge Number is 12460 your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card, which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona?"
When you say "No", the caller continues with, "Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?"
You say "yes". The caller continues - "I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security. You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. "Do you need me to read it again?"
Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, "I need to verify you are in possession of your card ". He'll ask you to "turn your card over and look for some numbers". There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers' that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him.
After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, "That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?" After you say No, the caller then thanks you and states, "Don't hesitate to call back if you do", and hangs up.
You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card. Long story made short – we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their conversation.
The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost to late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report.
What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a "Jason Richardson of MasterCard" with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a Police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening. _________________

Subject: Child Kidnap Trick in Carrefour, JB
Even if you do not have little kids, pass this one on to everyone you can think of. You never know who you might save by sending this e-mail! Please, take the time and forward this to any friend who has children & grandchildren! Thanks!
Wanted to share something that happened today while shopping at Carrefour. A mother was leaning over looking for meat and turned around to find her 4 years old daughter was missing. I was standing there right beside her, and she was calling her daughter with no luck.
I asked a man who worked at Carrefour to announce it over the loud-speaker. He did, and left me, he immediately walked right past me when I asked and went to a pole where there was a phone. He made an announcement for all the doors and gates to be locked, a code something. So they locked all the doors at once.
This took all of 3 minutes after I asked the guy to do this. They found the little girl 5 minutes later in a bathroom stall drugged. Her head was half shaved, and she was dressed in her underwear with a bag of clothes, a razor, and wig sitting on the floor beside her, to make her look different.
Whoever this person was, took the little girl, brought her into the bathroom, shaved half her head, and undressed her in a matter of less than 10 minutes. This makes me shake to no end.
Please keep a close eye on your kids when in big places where it's easy for you to get separated like Shopping Malls. It only took a few minutes to do all of that. Another 5 minutes and she would have been out the door.
I am still in shock that some sick person could do this, let alone in a matter of minutes. The days are over when our little ones could run rampant all over the place and nothing worse would happen then them annoying people.
The little girl is fine. Thank God for fast workers who didn't take any chances.
BE SURE TO FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE, SO THEY REMEMBER JUST HOW SICK PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE!

Drama @ Damansara...
I was leaving Vintry in Medan Damansara after several drinks with a group of friends on a rainy night. As I drove off, I thought my windscreen was fogged up (due to parking out in the rain and heat) and distinctively activated my wipers to clear it but only to have made it worse and completely obscured my vision, which almost caused an accident on the road. I pulled over and found out that somebody had poured diesel on my windscreen and the combination of diesel with water and the activation of the wipers will cause your windscreen to go opaque.
The next day, I related this story to a guy friend of mine whom has heard of the same story from another person. Apparently, this incident was NO accident. This was done with an intention as a common way of targeting potential victims and causing accidents upon which BAD people takes this opportunity to rob you or extort money from you for various reasons.
Please be aware of this trick and should you notice any foreign substance on your windscreen, please DO NOT attempt to drive off and get yourself into danger. Instead, get help from a friend or seek out a safe place and call for help as you have already been targeted.

Handphone – Be Careful How U List Names in the Address Book
A lady friend has changed her habit of how she lists her names on her
Mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag which contained her mobile, Credit card, purse...etc. ... was stolen.
20 minutes later when she called her hubby from a pay phone telling him
what had happened, hubby says "I've just received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago."
When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money Was already withdrawn. The pickpocket had actually used the stolen hand phone to text "hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from the bank account.
Moral of the lesson: Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact List. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, sweetheart, Dad, Mum etc....... And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked
thru texts (SMS), CONFIRM by calling back. Also, when you're being text (SMS) by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet "family and friends" who text (SMS) you.
