to gary lee:

i believe you are the person who really know what is filtration. i totally agree with your statment.

acually ours syarikat air malaysia already produce clean drinking water for us (they do acheive water quality depatment of enviroment - standard B), the only problem we have is the 30 years old pipe line, under ground.

your statment right!!!! i agree!!! so the next question is what is the most effective way with lower cost to do that?

you mention 3 to 4 time a week. how is the flow? how many liter of water you get?

if you get a very good flow, your diamand proberly only filter 50 to 100 micron of partical only.

as i said it is imposible for membrane filter to do the job without pressure.

if your diamand filter the water from pipe drop by drop, that mean it working. is a good diamand. the problem is can you wait?

just imagine, there is a cheapest system in the market, those you fill water on top and it will filter down through spund and sand, those nature flow filter not even membrane standard also need time.

sry, b4 Gary anwers your question heres my RM0.02! I use a cheap sediment filter (probably RM30-60) at the inlet valve where water comes into the house. b4 the water goes into the kettle for boiling I use a National water filter (RM90 when I bought it more than 10 years ago-now its probably RM120-RM150) I change the sediment filter (about RM12 for a pkt of 5-6 filters)about once a month. The National filter is changed yearly.

I think you are doing the right way. in fact, i think everybody should learn from you this. some peoples they just too foolish to be fool by marketing. but i believe is nothing much we can do about it.

Diamond cost 4 figure and your way to do this cost only about 3 figure... 10 time different to to have clean water. haha, that is diffrently between you and diamond user.

your ways is to filter 50 to 100 micron outside your house and refilter again to min0.2 max 5 micron (national filter system) and boile to kill all the chemical..... get rid of partical + purify the contant of water. you get 100% safe water, in RM below 500.

XXX brand: do the same thing in RM XXXX.00....

haha, all i can said is user just without knowledge....

Found this blog entry...
Quote:

Whole house water filter system is popular in homes, usually installed at the point of entry to the house next to the water meter. It consists of a filter housing encasing a coreless spunbonded polypropylene cartridge to filter out sediment, silt and scale. It also removes iron and rust that causes unsightly stains on clothes, sinks and toilets. The most used particle filter size is 5 micron. The average diameter of the human hair is 100 micron. A 1 micron filter is able to remove cysts such as cryptosporidium and giardia – the two common sources of waterborne gastrointestinal illnesses.

thank for the video....

i would like to share information about how to makesure your buying cartrdige is good quality.

smoker try to blow a smoke to those RM1.50 cartridge see is there penatrating.

please have a look to your cartridge indisde when you change a new one, is your old cartridge core inside still white or yellowish?

the most important is how fast it take to change your filter with Malaysia water.

for me, the best cartrdige is durability, filter quality, cost effctive.

whichmean i don't like to change cartridge everyweek... too troblesome. i like my filter fully effective by 1 micron, rewashable and only change out 3 to 6 months, price must be below RM40.00.

Try LFMicron filter cartridge. it WORK!!!

It was fun reading all your posts on water filters. I learnt something. Just wanted to share with you guys out there on Hydro 1. They are a scam. They sell you the product for rm500 and tell you that you will be contacted in 12 months where someone will inspect your system and change your filters. 12 months later or more, no one calls and you can't buy the filters anywhere. Out goes the filter and back to researching for a new one. Hate these Malaysian companies who are just scammers. Don't they realize that they are playing with peoples health. Damn-it!!!

Dear PJ Folks,

Of course, it is important to have one Home Water Purifier installed, but then again Choosing the Right Water Filtration System is more crucial!

Don't spend the money and buying the branded one but do not produce the result you expect.

Understand the true fact of water filtration products, before placing your order!

First of all most water filter or purifier are made of these components;

o Hollow Fibres filter
o Powdered Activated Carbon
o Granular Activated Carbon

Some facts I gathered from my research about water quality.

1. Fibres Filter have larger pores that prevent large particles such as dirt from crossing their tight fibre layer, but will allow dissolved contaminants such as lead and mercury to pass through.

2. Activated carbon filtration is most effective in removing organic contaminants from water. Because organic chemicals are often responsible for taste, odour and colour problems, activated carbon filtration can generally be used to improve aesthetically objectionable water that is treated to attract certain contaminants. When water passes through this type of filter, the carbon particles attract and remove contaminants (including dissolved substances such as hydrogen sulphide, heavy metals such as lead, mercury and copper and chlorine).

Unfortunately, most home water filtration systems also remove the good trace of minerals like potassium, sodium, chloride etc. Some illustration you might want to know:-

Sodium

Salt plain and simple. That is why after sweating you crave salty food.

Potassium

Most of us don’t get enough. The average intake is only half as much as sodium. A healthful intake is 5 times more potassium, than sodium, which is easily gotten by eating a more vegetable, and fruit based diet.

Chloride

The mate to both sodium and potassium, it is essential to keep these items in proper balance.

Calcium

This mineral is essential for proper cardiac and muscle function, if too low one can get muscle cramps.

Magnesium

When low muscle spasms can occur, also this mineral is crucial for maintaining a healthy airflow and to help keep blood pressure balanced.

Trace Minerals

The forgotten minerals, yet just because they are trace and small they are lost also when one get dehydrated. Replacing them as well can help maintain overall health and optimal functioning and performance.

Some filtration systems may replenish these at the output stage, it just as good as we taking supplements of magnesium, iron, calcium etc.

Needless to say, it will not be as good as the intake from natural water. I would recommend to look for Multi-Stage Water Filtration System that removes all the unwanted contaminants and bacteria, but leaving the good trace of minerals in the water, as the nature intended to be.

ordinary ppl use National PJ5RF or PJ3RF

rich ppl use Diamond Water, Bacfree, Amway, RO water etc

poor ppl tie a piece of cloth around the tap to act as a filter!

poor ppl drink unfiltered water will one day die

ordinary ppl use National filter will oso one day die

and the rich ppl use expensive water filter oso cannot live forever

.......so is better no need use filter!
